They can lag up the server quite a bit though..

Tons of large faction servers allow them, and they don't lag at all, considering they have hundreds of players and about half of them probably own a xp generator.

This one I am not voting yes or no on the poll. I think if it was designed in such a way as it did not have the ability to lag the server, then it would be fine. For example, a 8x8x6-7 or 9x9x6-7 room around a spawner would be fine, assuming the player was in the room to kill the mobs. An auto harvester, perhaps a large fall under a spawner with hoppers at the bottom would also most likely be fine. That is just my opinion. as for XP, the mobs would have to build up, would they not? That would cause the mobs to be decreased in spawning elsewhere, making it unfair for other players.

Keep in mind that if the player is not at the spawner, the chunk would not be loaded, meaning the spawner would stop, until a player enters that chunk again. This prevents XP from building up.

I couldn't see why having a mob grinder would be a problem

@Warmo
Most people use them as AFK grinders, so the mobs would build up while they are AFK. The thing with being in the spawner room though, is they can't go AFK, because they will die, and if they are there, then they can kill the mobs, preventing the buildup

@Spike
I feel like this thread is going a little off track, the aim of the forum is to discuss whether AFK grinders or any other grinder that uses water to move the mobs should be allowed, not whether spawner rooms should be allowed. I have personally tested an AFK Grinder in-game and found that no lag was caused, neither did anyone complain about lag during the short time I was testing it.
